Is there any proof that someone is joining? For instance: a "join" button? I'm joining, hoping to finish something in time. Quote: Points of judgement are gameplay, graphics, sound and theme incorporation I have a question about Gameplay rating. More specifically the learning curve. (i.e. Ninja Gaiden or CS) If a game is very hard and annoying, but it is amazingly fun after playing it for a while? Would it get bad points because the gameplay is too difficult or good points because it is fun to play after a while? edit: Do we also have to upload the source code, or does the source not get graded? There's no join button, but you're strongly encouraged to make a worklog when you start, and drop some teasers once every while. Good to have you in this competition, surely you'll be able to finish something in 4 months. Quoting Dennis: I have a question about Gameplay rating. More specifically the learning curve. (i.e. Ninja Gaiden or CS) If a game is very hard and annoying, but it is amazingly fun after playing it for a while? Would it get bad points because the gameplay is too difficult or good points because it is fun to play after a while? Probably both will influence the score, however be assured that the judges will play the game long enough to get to it's full potential. Quoting Dennis: Do we also have to upload the source code, or does the source not get graded? It's not necessary to upload the source. You can upload it though if you're proud of it. ____________ Personal website: http://www.loijson.com |

Would it get bad points because the gameplay is too difficult or good points because it is fun to play after a while? You just picked two games that are fun mostly because they're so hard. It's satisfying once you get really good at it. ____________ This is my Blog. There are many like it, but this one is mine! (Now actual posts on it) http://www.chiefillustrator.com |

You could have easy and harder parts, so the player can choose a path that matches their skill, while not discouraging beginners.

Presumably its up to the judges? Aren't the best games the ones that anyone of any skill can play, but are still satisfyingly challenging for those who want it? ____________ |

Quoting g105b: I don't know how to start a worklog ... Click the "worklogs" link in the menu, click on "manage my worklogs" and then click on "create new worklog". Then you can create a worklog and then post new entries with the "new post" button. @Gobliz: There'll be four themes and you can pick one to make a game after, so I am sure you'll like one of them. ____________ Personal website: http://www.loijson.com |

cheers Rincewind, but when I posted "I don't know how to start a worklog ... " there was no "Create new worklog" link. There is now though, maybe a weird cookie problem or something.
