Maybe everyone could introduce himself in this topic; give a bit of info and such, that's always fun to read. Even though you might be a total legend here already. And for new members this is certainly the best way to meet the community!

I'll start off.

I'm Jan-Willem, 17 years old (and officially an adult in a few months, it's insane). I live in the Netherlands (South-Holland).

My day to day life is pretty much ruined by school (college for the British). It's boring, it makes sure I don't get enough sleep and it steals my free time, which I ofcourse can spend myself. :wtf: I am definitely happy this is my last year, university awaits.

My one big hobby is game development (atm in Fenix, in combination with some C++ dll coding). Next to game development I am also pretty good with Photoshop and can do webdesign. Actually, I have plenty of things I am interested in, ranging from fractals to tesla coils.

About projects, well, some of you might remember PC-Creation, and some tech demos on DIV-Arena, but probably most of my projects never saw daylight, among which are a lot of RTS's and other games.

I'll show the world what I can do, some day. :P

I'm called Fiona wheter you like it or not, and I am Woody's code monkey. He makes me work night and day on his websites so he can earn money, I don't see a penny! Oh he whips me too, to make me work faster, someone help me escape PLEASE!

Now and again he lets me out for air, I end up sneaking off to the arcade to play DDR, but I'm not good and everyone laughs at me! *Cries*

Aww, poor Fiona :(. Why don't you just escape when he lets you out for air? :D

Anyway, as you people know, I'm Pieter-Bart, 19 years old and I'm Dutch.

At the moment I'm doing a fulltime work placement (at least that's what my dictionary said that the Brittish call it). So let that be a warning to you Rincewind, that is what happens when you get older :D.

For my hobby I'd like to drum, but I don't spend enough time on it :D. And I think that I'll never finish my Fenix Reversie game...

Also as most of you probably know, I'm a Christian and it's quite likely that I'll bring my faith into conversation a couple of times. :D

My name's Mark and I'm 21 and I just graduated from uni this year. Now I'm supposedly looking for a job but I'm really being a lazy bum and spend my time working on this site, playing online games and telling myself I'm going to get into C++ again some time.

And I will! But not today, eh.

I started out programming games waaay back when I started playing around with VB one day (didn't have a clue how to program). Then someone introduced me to The Games Factory (click & create) which I made looooads of stuff in including an rts and a tank game with pseudo-3d buildings. But I got tired of c&c's bugs and wanted more control - that's when I saw Div Games Studio advertised. I made lots of stuff in that and I was learning Pascal at 6th form at the same time. Then at uni I learned about object orientated programming in Java and taught myself C++ at the same time. I've tried writing games in Java but got frustrated by the garbage collector which seems to get in the way all the time. I've also used DirectDraw but got frustrated by the slow image scaling and rotation. I've even tried using Direct3D to do 2D stuff - fast hardware-supported sprite scaling, rotation, lighting, etc etc. But with that method the player has to have a 3d graphics card and all your images have to be 2^n in size, etc etc. It can be a bit of a pain.

But anyway - there you go.

And even after 3 years he can't write 'artificial' correctly haha. ;)

But cool. Are you also going for a Master? Did you enjoy your study? Should I come to your university to study AI there? In the Netherlands AI didn't really break through yet and is only available at some farmer universities.

And is Ferret not going to study?

What I mean is low rated universities, shitty universities in uncivilized country parts of the Netherlands. I don't want to go to such a university to study AI, if you see what I mean.

I'm sort of a 19-year-old version of Frim. I started out small, with RPG Maker for the PlayStation. After that, I moved on to DIV, Fenix, and then dabbled in a bunch of other languages before realizing how shit the game industry is and giving it up.

I'm taking a semester off from college because I'm lazy. That's also the reason I haven't got a job at the moment -- though I have been applying at various places. I studied Applied Computer Science at Plymouth State University (the worst college in the United States) for a year and learned nothing except that JAVA is even shittier than I thought at first. I'm probably going to be studying English at Clark University next spring. Web design is still a blast, but application programming has bored the shit out of me.

In the meantime, though... BOOLEAN SOUP!

Hey, I'm Sam the Pilot. I'm an 18 year old geek bashing nerd from England. I found Div years ago, when I still had drive to learn new things. Nowadays, I start to learn something for five seconds and I quit. I was never to good to begin with.

I'm going to Uni in a few weeks to study Graphic Design. Graphic Design is great because no-one can tell you it's wrong, only that it's crap. It's great. Apparently I'm funny, even though I'm just offensive.

I might try and learn all sorts of web programming stuff so I could fix my site, but it might require some work and I'm allergic to it.

Hey you all know me!!

I'm Gary Moncrieff, currently reside in Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland. Alot of time is spent away from home lately mind.

I'm 24 and I'm currently a training manager for a small training organisation running their Essential Skills, ICT and Job Skills departments.

I've been attended Queen's University, Belfast, for a number of years now and I'm currently undertaking my MSSc Lifelong Learning Management (Literacy & Numeracy).

I work 5 days a week, do my HNC in business and finance on Monday and Tuesday evenings, teach gcse maths to a group of adult learners on a Wedensday night, in University on a Thursday night and friday's are spent unwinding.

I no longer have any interest in programming off any sort, real life has just been too much fun lately for me to worry about it.
