cool prizes. if both graphic cards are DirectX 9.0c based, and I win one. I'm gonna sell 'm before vista comes out :p

No need to sell, A DirectX 9.0c based graphics card will run Windows Vista smoothly. My old Geforce 3 could do it, including the shadows and tab 3D. :)

Quoting Dennis:
will winners be able to choose the prize themselves? Something like

First winner chooses something
second winner chooses of what's left
... and so on

The winner of the first prize will be able to chose one prize out of the graphical items listed above. The winner of the second prize will be able to chose 2 games out of the game list. Not sure what you mean with 'whats left', but if you mean that winners of the second and third prize can chose a FIRST prize, then NO. We didn't actually buy the first prize yet, it will be one item (or two if a team wins).

Quoting Dennis:
prize update request: a graphics card that supports directx 10 would be nice. (for playing Crysis demo etc )

There are no Directx 10 graphics card available yet in the stores, Dx 9.0c is the highest available now.

Quoting DTM:
If you have not bought the first prize a cash prize might be better.... it seems you just chose them for the pretty pictures.

Oh and only one more day to go!!!!!!!!!

is reliance on java machine allowed? I might use that, i'm supposed to be learning java

Cash isn't really touchable, we're not here to pay your rent, we're here to give you a cool hardware item ;)

And Java is certainly allowed.

Quoting Tovi:
If I win by myself. Is it possible to get a mouse and a usb stick instead of the solo prizes? :p

As Moogle correctly pointed out: yes. :)

@Rockford: thanks again. You know the fine places eh. ;) I myself posted it on Gamedev, the Ludumdare forum, fenix.divsite.net and the Fenixzone at gp32x.com.

Less than half an hour to go before the competition starts! :yay:

Smaller games :)
Personally I'd vote for a very large game any time. Say GTA:SA has lots of bugs and annoyances, but I find it better than say Pacman. (Yes yada yada can't compare yada yada it's an example yada yada). So that small game better be fucking awesome if it were to win (IMO).
Furthermore I don't like the idea of multiple entries, then the compo becomes like a lottery. And after talking with Rince, I thought about it some more and I am completely against it. Don't know if the rule is still changable (well it's not 5 October yet), but I hope so.
Well thats your personal preference, no need to force it on us all :) Myself, i love small games with great execution. They can be madly addicting.
Apparently you are able to read, but I didn't force anything on 'us all', not very clear where you got that from. If I followed your way of thinking I could say you are forcing the opposite on 'us'. It was just a suggestion, keep your pants on, it's not for me to decide.

my pants are very much on thank you :) I deduced from your tone and your 'completely against it' attitude that you thought the rule was required. Im glad the competition is open to multiple entries, like Rince said, it's NOT a lottery, more entries is not more chances. Everything is based on the merit of the games themselves, just like it should be.

I will be making a strategic pirates vs ninjas game. That's right. I said it first. So no one else is allowed to make the same thing. Got that? :p

Actually scrap that. I'll be making a pirates vs ninjas vs zombies game!

EDIT:

Even better!! OMG: I'll be making a pirates vs ninjas vs robots vs zombies game!!

EDIT2:

Heck, I might even include dinosaurs if I find the time.

Yeah but when Vista does come out some new games will be directx10 only e.g. Halo 2. So i would sell it too or not bother with vista at all.

Sooooo a G15. I recommend that keyboard, because it's AWESOME. The blue backlight is AWESOME. They Gkeys are AWESOME, the LCD is AWESOME. Don't forget I wrote a DLL for that for Fenix, so you better get it and the G15. Mmmm.

[EDIT]
It actually has 3x18=54 programmable Gkeys (the 3 buttons above the Gkeys let you select a profile; it is nice). :)

because... I read this post, and I replied to it? it was on top of the list, so I didn't look at the date. :( The topic wasn't closed either. These are my arguments. :(

erm any argument against these are welcome ... :(

perhaps this forum should be renamed 'Competitions' in the case of possible future compos?

Perhaps it should.

Perhaps dead topics should be locked. I really didn't look at the date. Actually the date something is posted is irrelevant, everything depends on the content of a message.
