Well yes,anything from the playstation one era upwards, would be classed as a reversed retro remake,or demake as was coined... you can use 3d if its easier,but have a 2d look, for all of those wondering! sometimes it gives you access then to nice cool effects,so that is to say,if I was reverse remaking GTAIV, and I wanted to create it in any capable 3d programming package like darkbasic for instance, then I surely would model everything in 3d,but have a top-down view, this would give me all them 3d effects like lighting/shadows...god knows what else.. I would name em but I aint a tech head! Use freeware sounds, royalty free you know.... But use your own graphics,least i would advice it, but never fear, I will not be judging the entries by graphics or sound..just gameplay. And if anyone else helps me judge then this is my suggestion. Teams..well i dunno..as i only had one prize, unless one of you just does it for the love of it..the fame..the glory..the..... yes we could go on all day! Timescale I dont know..we should all decide ____________ Gimme my toetag already... |

I was routing through some old hardrives and i found my halo files.... i believe there is probably some old games on it as well such as trigger happy demo,trigger happy and trigger happy 2 as well as probably hero the realm. Of course, vista wont allow me to play 16-bit DOS files, and MS says there making their OS's better!!! So if anyone wants to make a top down halo game with me, i have most of the sound files and stuff ready.. I might give it a quick revamp though.. Ok. After a final word with RaverDave the official competition "retro'ed-remake" (where you take a modern game-type and make a lo-fi or retro version of it) will be three months in duration. This starts on the Friday 15th of August and the deadline shall be Saturday 15th of November. Nice and square so to speak. You may do your project in teams, but this obviously affects the prizes if you are a winning team. You will basically have to cope, or share! (though the prizes are not officially chosen yet.) So you shall be spening the remainder of summer and most of autumn - whiling away those darkening evenings coding and creating the reduced version of your favourite game!
